Advanced Security Equipment Planned to be Installed at Kensington Palace

Sensitive documents detailing new security measures to be installed at the Kensington Palace apartment of Prince William and Kate Middleton can be viewed by the public.  Despite pleas from Buckingham Palace to treat the documents as confidential, and appealing for the application not to be allowed to enter the public domain, the plans can viewed by anyone who applies in writing for an appointment and provides proof of identity on arrival.

Security plans for the apartment include installing an “air lock” double door to deter intruders, an advanced CCTV system, pop-up bollards and spiked railings. It is believed at least £500,000 needs to be spent on technical upgrades to the flat which the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge plan to move into next year.
